The WCI model is a market-based approach - assisting women increase their equity stakes (shares of wealth) in the broader economy through entrepreneurship and as Mark Cuban put it, "accumulate growth assets that increase in values" - and as the World Bank's Mahmoud Mohieldin encouraged, push towards more women-prioritized solutions.
The WCI offers concrete strategy of starting a fund with the explicit intentions and ultimate goal of transferring women's wealth building decision-making to women - assisting them to, as Sheryl Sandberg encouraged, "lean in" to fulfill their heart-felt goals and ambitions. To say to themselves, the buck stops here! This is the heart of the WCI and in many ways, it is also the impetus of the CDFI industry.
